YOU DON’T HAVE TO OBEY EVERY FEELING
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
The new birth brings you into a new realm of operations in the kingdom of God. You live in the world but you are not of the world. The Spirit of the Lord is now in charge and He controls you according to God’s will and purpose for your life.
Note this: your feelings are real, but they don’t have to become your master. You have only one Master and that’s our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hear me today and take this words seriously:
You may feel angry, but you can still choose forgiveness.
You may feel afraid, but you can still move forward in faith.
You may feel discouraged, but you can still worship.
You may feel tempted, but you can still say no.
You may feel tired, but you can still remain faithful.
Romans 8:14 declares, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
Maturity means learning to ask, “What is the Holy Spirit leading me to do?” rather than simply, “What do I feel like doing?”
Every time you choose obedience over impulse, your spiritual muscles become stronger.
Every time you forgive instead of retaliating, Christ is being formed in you.
Every time you resist temptation, self-control grows.
Every time you follow the Holy Spirit when your emotions want something different, you are developing spiritual maturity.
Today, don’t allow your feelings to make every decision for you. Listen for the Holy Spirit and choose His way. Every Spirit-led decision is another step toward spiritual maturity. Keep yielding, keep obeying, and keep walking with Him. Sooner than you can imagine, your life will increasingly look like Jesus.
I want you to declare these word loud and clear:
I declare that I walk in the Spirit and will not be controlled by the desires of the flesh. The Holy Spirit directs my thoughts, words, emotions, decisions, and actions. I receive grace to overcome temptation, offense, fear, anger, pride, and every ungodly desire. The fruit of the Spirit is increasing in my life. I walk in love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control. I am becoming increasingly sensitive and obedient to the voice of God. My life shall reveal the character of Jesus Christ, and I will continue growing from strength to strength and from glory to glory. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
