The Danger of Seeking other gods

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

Jehovah is His name—the Lord God Almighty. He alone is the Creator of heaven and earth and is worthy of our worship, obedience, and wholehearted devotion. Every other deity is a man-made object of deception, incapable of saving or delivering anyone. It is both spiritually dangerous and eternally costly to seek mediums, fortune tellers, or other gods.

The Bible declares in Isaiah 8:19–20 (AMP):

“When the people, instead of trusting God, say to you, ‘Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,’ should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.”

Furthermore, Isaiah 8:21 (AMP) says:

“They [who consult mediums and soothsayers] will pass through the land deeply distressed and hungry, and when they are hungry, they will become enraged and will curse their king and their God as they look upward.”

Many of the self-inflicted pains and spiritual frustrations seen in our generation are the result of people turning away from the living God to pursue false hopes and deceptive powers. Do not allow your life to follow that path. God loves the world and has graciously provided salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is alive, and He is coming again for those who faithfully belong to Him.

Those who reject the Lord and put their trust in other gods will ultimately experience disappointment, bondage, and eternal regret. Lifeless idols can never satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart. Therefore, turn to the Lord with all your heart and seek no other. Jesus Christ is the only Way to the Father. Do not be distracted by counterfeit paths. If you have found the Way, remain steadfast and keep pressing forward until you see Him in glory.

Prayer:

Father, You alone are my God. I renounce every false god and every deceptive influence in my generation. I will worship and serve You alone. Keep me firmly established in the way of righteousness, preserve my heart from every form of idolatry, and direct my steps continually in Your truth. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
