THE DISCIPLINE OF WAITING ON THE LORD

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

You are not a disciple of Christ Jesus until you embrace discipline as your daily lifestyle. Our God is busy working to fulfill His promises for those who truly believe. One of the greatest marks of spiritual maturity is learning to wait on the Lord. Waiting is not idleness; it is a posture of confident expectation. It is trusting God’s wisdom when His timing differs from ours and believing that He is working even when we cannot yet see the outcome.

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

Our generation is sold out to instant results and I call us the “noddles generation” but God’s kingdom often operates through seasons of preparation. Before Joseph wore the crown of leadership, he endured years of waiting. Before David sat on the throne, he faithfully served as a shepherd and endured seasons of testing. Before the disciples shook the world, they waited in prayer for the promised Holy Spirit.

God uses seasons of waiting to strengthen our faith, refine our character, and deepen our dependence on Him. What appears to be a delay is often God’s classroom, preparing us for greater responsibility and greater glory.

If you are waiting for an answer to prayer, a breakthrough, healing, restoration, or divine direction, do not lose heart. The God who made the promise is faithful, and He will act at the appointed time.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me to wait on You with faith and patience. Strengthen my heart when answers seem delayed, and help me to trust Your perfect timing. Renew my strength, deepen my faith, and prepare me for every blessing You have ordained for my life. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
