MAKING IT WORK

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

Marriage is a beautiful institution created by the Almighty. It brings two different individuals from different backgrounds together to fulfill the counsel of the Lord as recorded in Genesis 1:28.

This union must work—provided the man and his wife are covenanted in love and committed to making it work. Marriage does not succeed by chance; it flourishes by intentionality, sacrifice, patience, and the grace of God.

I had a strong determination that my marriage would work, and together with my wife, we began to build the future we desired long before we came fully into it. Today, by God’s mercy, it has been over 18 years, and we can boldly say—God is good.

Have you made up your mind under God and are you ready to pull resources together with your spouse to ensure your home is built to last? A successful marriage is not built on feelings alone but on shared vision, mutual respect, forgiveness, and unwavering commitment. There will be seasons of testing, but with God at the center, victory is assured.

The Bible declares in Ecclesiastes 4:12:

A threefold cord is not quickly broken.

When God is involved, your union becomes stronger than any storm. Refuse to give up on your marriage. Speak life into your home, choose love daily, and work together as partners in destiny. What you water will grow—so water your marriage with prayer, kindness, and understanding.

Your home will not fail. It will stand as a testimony of God’s faithfulness in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

My Father and my God, be the foundation of my marriage. Teach us to love, to forgive, and to grow together in unity. Strengthen our bond and help us to build a home that glorifies You. Let our union flourish and stand strong through every season, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
