PEACE IN GOD’S PRESENCE
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
In our present world filled with uncertainty, stress, and constant change, peace can often feel distant or temporary. Many seek it through circumstances—hoping that when things settle down, peace will follow. Yet Jesus offers a different kind of peace, one that is not dependent on what is happening around us.
Our Lord Jesus declares:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” — John 14:27 (KJV)
As He spoke to His disciples before His crucifixion, Jesus knew they would soon face fear, confusion, and loss. Still, He gave them a promise—His peace. This was not a fragile or fleeting peace like the world offers, but a deep, abiding calm rooted in His presence.
The peace of Christ does not mean the absence of trouble; it means the presence of God in the midst of it. It steadies the heart when life feels unstable and quiets the mind when anxiety begins to rise. This peace is a gift, received not through striving, but through trusting Him.
When we fix our attention on Jesus—His promises, His faithfulness, and His authority—we begin to experience that peace more fully. Fear loses its grip, and our hearts find rest, even in uncertain seasons.
If your heart feels troubled today, return to the words of Jesus and get in His presence through faith and prayers. His peace is available to you now, guarding your heart and mind as you place your trust in Him.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the peace You give that the world cannot offer. When my heart feels troubled or afraid, help me to rest in Your presence and trust in Your promises. Fill me with Your peace today and guide me through every situation with confidence in You. In Your name, Amen.
