OBEDIENCE IS ALWAYS PREFERRED
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
Walking with God requires simplicity, sincerity, and truth. His greatest desire is obedience, not our activities or outward display of spirituality. God calls us to be with Him so He can shape us, empower us, and make us channels of deliverance and salvation to others. But when we replace His instructions with our own ideas, we lose alignment with His divine purpose and open ourselves to vulnerability.
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 1 Samuel 15:22 KJV
King Saul disobeyed divine instruction, and that singular act cost him both the throne and his fellowship with God. The lesson is clear — partial obedience is disobedience. You will never experience the beauty and reward of obedience until you wholeheartedly follow God’s Word.
There is no confusion in divine command. When God speaks, He expects complete compliance. His blessings and divine security flow through obedience, not self-will. Therefore, yield your heart and actions to the will of God. Don’t let His instructions appear foolish in your sight — His ways are higher, and His wisdom is supreme.
To rise to greatness in God’s Kingdom, you must be willing to follow Him all the way. Obedience is the true test of love and the gateway to divine favor.
Prayer: Father, help me to walk in total obedience to Your Word. Deliver me from every act of pride, self-will, and distraction that may keep me from following Your instructions fully. Amen.
