SERVING WITH OPEN HEART

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

The Bible reveals the truth about the state of our hearts, and the reality is that it’s the heart that truly matters. In order to walk and work correctly before the Lord, it’s essential to recognize that He sees through the lens of your heart and judges all things based on the truth within, rather than the external appearances that are often celebrated or visible to those around you.

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 NLT

A pure heart is a fundamental requirement for being the best option in the hands of the Lord. Consequently, it is essential to rid your conscience of evil, bitterness, pride, and unforgiveness to gain divine approval. The brothers of David were disqualified, and others were rejected, not due to physical appearance, but because of the content of their hearts and character. It is crucial to open your life to God and reflect on the motivations behind your actions and decisions. Are your actions driven by a desire to please God or to obtain approval from others? When your heart is fixed on the truth, rejection from others becomes insignificant. The Lord, who sees into your heart, will lift you up at the appointed time and also fight your battles for you. You can’t go wrong while serving the Lord wholeheartedly.

Reflections: Examine your heart and get it renewed daily as you continue your walk with God. Entertain no bitterness but offer your life as a genuine living sacrifice to God and you will never fail in Jesus name.
