STRIP OFF THE WEIGHT

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

Yearly, as January 1st approaches, we establish multiple New Year’s resolutions. One such resolution is our commitment to shedding a few pounds to maintain a healthy lifestyle and physical fitness, thereby fulfilling our destiny. I firmly believe that these actions are necessary and vital to sustaining a good and healthy life. Habits, whether positive or negative, significantly impact our lives.

In Hebrews 12:1, the Bible says: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

One critical weight we must shed in our daily lives is the burden of sin and the load of unrighteousness that has enslaved our generation. Sincere repentance is the first step towards restoration. If we have truly confessed Jesus as our Lord and Savior, let us demonstrate it by forsaking sin and iniquity, thereby living with purpose and maintaining a healthy spiritual life. The weight of sin will ultimately destroy any unrepentant soul. Do not yield to the devil’s influence through the weights that are hindering your life. Approach the throne of God’s grace and obtain mercy to live in full obedience to God as you continue to commune with God’s Spirit through His Word.

Pray with me: Father, empower me to forsake sin and unrighteousness. I humbly receive Your grace to walk in harmony with You and persistently follow the illuminating light of Your Word, in Jesus’ name.
