THE CARE, RICHES AND THE PLEASURES OF LIFE

As children of God, our hearts should pant for the presence of God above all else. Jesus promised that if we seek first the kingdom of God, all other things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33). However, the very things that God intends to bless us with can become distractions that separate us from Him.

In Luke 8:14, Jesus warns: “The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity.”

Don’t let the cares, riches, and pleasures of life steal your heart. God desires your heart, and from that, He will expand your territory and empower you for great exploits in His kingdom. Understanding this truth will deliver you from the rat race of life and open you up to a deeper relationship with God.

Let’s pray: Father Lord, please deliver me from everything that has separated me from Your love and Your Word. Let my eyes of understanding be totally opened to see the right things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
