GOD STILL SPEAKS TO HIS PEOPLE
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
It’s a profound level of unbelief to assume that God remains silent to His own children. As believers who have accepted Him as Lord, Savior, and Father, we acknowledge that He desires to communicate with us through His Word and His voice.
As the Bible reminds us in Job 33:14, ‘For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.’ The tragic reality is that many individuals fail to recognize God’s voice, leading to a life of carelessness and frivolity. When we neglect to listen for God’s guidance, we risk missing out on His wisdom, comfort, and direction. It’s essential to cultivate a listening heart, one that seeks to discern God’s voice amidst life’s noise and distractions.
So Eli said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, LORD, your servant is listening.'” So Samuel went back to bed. 1 Samuel 3:9 NLT
Initially, Samuel wasn’t attuned to God’s voice, but Eli’s guidance helped him learn to respond. In our Christian journey, there’s always more to learn, unlearn, and relearn. Humility and patience are essential as we seek wisdom and direction. Rather than relying solely on our own understanding, we must be open to wise counsel and guidance from God’s Word. God is eager to communicate with us, speaking again and again if we’re willing to listen. However, we must beware of becoming like Eli, blinded to the truth, or too busy to hear from our Maker.
In a world filled with danger and wickedness, divine communication offers the guidance we need to avoid destruction. By having faith in God and His Word, and patiently waiting to hear from him, we can navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
Reflections: Let us cultivate a listening heart, attentive to God’s whispers, and responsive to His guidance. As we do, we’ll discover the wisdom, comfort, and direction we need to live a life that honors Him.

I pray that the Lord will grant us the grace to heal from our ignorance and help us to grow and learn how to hear from him in Jesus name.
