BUILDING CAPACITY TO SERVE AS COMMANDED
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
Jesus’ ministry exemplifies true service and reminds today’s leaders to embrace the responsibility of servanthood as we minister to God’s people. The assignment is clear: “Make disciples of all nations.” Fulfilling this commission requires walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
The Lord said:
“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” — Matthew 23:11 KJV
You are not ready for ministry if you are unwilling to serve those God has entrusted to your care. You are called to greater works, and this demands faithful preparation and commitment. Ministry is the Father’s business, and we must approach it with diligence, humility, and a desire to bear lasting fruit. God has called us to labour with Him in bringing many sons unto glory.
You must build spiritual capacity through prayer, the study of God’s Word, and obedience to His instructions. Do not become complacent or allow pride and personal ambition to dictate your service. Yield to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to shape your character into the likeness of Christ. Your gifts may create opportunities, but you need spiritual maturity to serve faithfully.
Souls are still perishing. Many remain bound by sin, unaware of God’s provision for their salvation through Jesus Christ. We are sent to proclaim His saving grace, demonstrate the Father’s love, and lead people into a growing relationship with Him. Rise to your responsibility, prepare yourself for service, and act as the Lord has commanded.
Prayer: Father, You have called and sent me; empower me to serve You faithfully. Build my capacity through Your Word and Spirit, and make me fruitful in winning souls and raising disciples. Keep me diligent in Your service until I see You in glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
