THE POWER OF A FORGIVING HEART
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
Forgiveness is one of the greatest expressions of Christ’s nature in the life of a believer. But how amazing it is when believers find it hard to let go and also forgive others just like Jesus did while rescuing us from the power of sin, death and hell.
When you understand how much God has forgiven you, extending mercy to others becomes an act of obedience and gratitude. Forgiveness comes naturally to anyone who is deeply in love with God and who truly understands the operations of the Almighty. Many may claim to be Christlike but those who truly practice forgiveness understand the heartbeat of God and genuine followers of His grace.
The Bible declares:
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” — Ephesians 4:32 KJV
Don’t allow yesterday’s offenses to poison today’s blessings. Bitterness burdens the heart, but forgiveness releases you from the captivity of resentment. Forgiving others doesn’t mean approving their wrongdoing; it means refusing to allow their actions to control your spiritual life. You are too precious to live in unforgiveness. Let Christ dwell in you richly and truly let go of the past so you can breathe freshly from the throne of grace.
Prayer:
Father, give me a heart that forgives freely. Heal every wound caused by offenses and deliver me from bitterness and resentment. Help me reflect the love and mercy of Christ in all my relationships, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
