FOCUSING ON THE NEEDFUL

The Lord desires your attention and wants you to concentrate on what truly matters. More often than not, we become overwhelmed by life and its many demands that we hardly remember what matters most to God. The real priority is your focus and attention on God’s Word. When this is secured, every other aspect of your life will fall into place.
The Scripture declares:
“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41–42 KJV
“One thing is needful.” This was the counsel of our Savior to Martha. The one thing that guarantees lasting joy and all-round settlement is paying attention to what the Lord has to say.
Don’t become so busy that you forget the Master. Don’t spend all your time waiting on people while refusing to wait upon God. He desires to pour out His love upon you and prepare you for greater works in His Kingdom. However, you may become so occupied with other things that you neglect His presence and purpose.
Break free from worldly distractions and devote yourself to loving and serving the Lord with a pure heart. Choose the good part—it shall never be taken away from you. It shall be well with you.
Prayer: Father, my heart is fixed on following You. Do not allow me to be distracted from Your grace and presence. Keep me attentive to Your Word and help me hear Your voice every day. Lead me into the center of Your perfect will, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
