DON’T JUST CHASE PROGRESS—PURSUE GOD

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

There is nothing wrong with wanting to advance in life. Work smart and work hard. Develop yourself. Pursue excellence. Build your career. Fulfill your dreams.

But never become so busy building your life that you neglect the One who gave you life.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:33: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Let me encourage you my beloved, Put God first.

Before the phone—pray.

Before anxiety—pray.

Before making major decisions—seek God.

Before chasing opportunities—ask for His direction.

Before responding emotionally—listen to the Holy Spirit.

Your greatest advantage is not merely who you know on earth; it is how closely you walk with God.

Success without God’s presence will never satisfy the deepest needs of your soul.

So pursue your goals, but pursue Jesus more. Build your future, but build your spiritual life stronger. Make progress, but never leave God’s presence behind.

Today’s Declaration

I declare that my heart belongs completely to Jesus Christ. My desire for God’s presence is increasing daily. I will not allow distractions, possessions, ambitions, or the pressures of life to separate me from intimate fellowship with the Lord. I receive fresh hunger for prayer, fresh delight in God’s Word, and fresh sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. As I draw near to God, my faith shall grow stronger, my character shall become more Christlike, and my life shall become increasingly fruitful. I will seek first God’s Kingdom and fulfill His purpose for my life. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
