COMPETE WITH YESTERDAY’S VERSION OF YOURSELF

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

Your life is too precious to be wasted on baseless comparisons. You are not here to compete with anyone but to focus on your journey, discover why you are here and work hard to fulfill your own destiny. You will be so shocked to see or hear what some folks fight or worry about. Most of these are mundane and ephemeral baseless earthly things. You are a child of God and your story should be different. Remember the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:12, but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Do not measure your future by your present level. God still has more to teach you. There are prayers you have not yet prayed, truths you have not yet discovered, abilities you have not yet developed, and dimensions of God’s grace you have not yet experienced.

2 Peter 3:18 encourages us:

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

Do not compete with someone else’s journey. Compete with yesterday’s version of yourself. Pray a little deeper. Study a little more. Love people better. Forgive more quickly. Serve more faithfully. Obey God more completely.

Small daily improvements, empowered by the Holy Spirit, eventually produce remarkable spiritual maturity. You may not be where you desire to be yet, but if you continue walking faithfully with Christ, you do not have to remain where you are.

Make this Declaration with faith in your heart:

I declare that I am growing in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. My spiritual life will not stagnate. My hunger for God’s Word is increasing, my prayer life is becoming stronger, and my understanding of spiritual truth is expanding. Every habit that hinders my growth loses its hold over me. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I am becoming more loving, disciplined, faithful, fruitful, and Christlike. I will continue moving from strength to strength and from glory to glory. My life shall fulfill God’s purpose and bless my generation, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
