THE CALLING TO INTIMACY WITH GOD

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

In Mark chapter 13, we saw a special call of Christ Jesus to His first set of disciples and it was essentially for intimacy with him before they were prepared and empowered to make disciples of all nations. One of the greatest truths every believer must understand is that the real difference in life is not wealth, talent, education, position, or possessions. These things can be acquired by anyone. What truly distinguishes a child of God is the presence of God upon and within them.

The Bible declares: “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.” — Exodus 33:14

When Moses was faced with the responsibility of leading Israel, he understood that success without God’s presence was meaningless. He boldly declared, “If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence” (Exodus 33:15). He knew that divine presence is the secret of divine distinction.

The highest calling of every believer is intimacy with God. More than pursuing things, pursue His presence. More than seeking blessings, seek the Blesser. A life that hosts God’s presence will never lack divine direction, strength, favor, and peace.

Today, make a commitment to spend time with God through prayer, worship, and His Word. The presence you carry will always determine the difference you make.

Prayer: Father, draw me closer to You. Let Your presence become my greatest pursuit and my daily advantage. May my life continually reflect Your glory and power, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
