THE EVER FAITHFUL, EVER MERCIFUL GOD
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
God’s faithfulness never changes. He’s ever the same and you can therefore count on his love and mercy all through the journey. God’s mercy brought us life through the sufferings of Jesus at calvary. Today, we are redeemed and translated in God’s kingdom and preserved unto His glory.
“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)
Lamentations was written in the midst of grief, loss, and deep distress. Yet right in the middle of sorrow, Jeremiah speaks one of the most hope-filled declarations in all of Scripture: “Great is thy faithfulness.” This reminds us that the faithfulness of God is not dependent on the ease of our circumstances. It remains constant even when life feels uncertain.
God’s mercies are not leftovers from yesterday. They are new every morning. That means each day begins with fresh compassion, fresh grace, and fresh help from the Lord. You may not have strength for next week or even tomorrow, but God promises mercy for today. And today’s mercy is enough for today’s need.
The faithfulness of God becomes especially precious in difficult seasons because it reminds us that we are not at the mercy of changing emotions or unstable conditions. We are held by a God whose character never shifts. He is faithful in His love, faithful in His promises, faithful in His provision, and faithful in His presence.
If your heart feels unsettled today, anchor yourself in this truth: God has been faithful, God is faithful, and God will remain faithful. His mercies are already waiting for you this morning, and His compassion has not run out. What steadies your soul is not the certainty of life, but the certainty of God.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your unfailing mercy and Your great faithfulness. When life feels uncertain and my heart feels unsettled, help me to anchor myself in who You are. Strengthen my trust in You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
