BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

Your heart is the seat of the Lord and the place of strength for your whole being. No anxiety should be allowed to permeate it. You are too blessed and surrounded to be afraid or act in doubt as if your God is not able. With Faith in God, there’s no mountain you cannot move.

An anxious heart can carry a heavy burden. Worry has a way of filling the mind with unanswered questions, imagined outcomes, and restless thoughts that seem difficult to quiet. Even when we know God is faithful, anxiety can still try to press itself into the heart and steal our peace.

The Bible says :

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” — Philippians 4:6 (KJV)

Paul’s instruction in Philippians is both tender and powerful. He does not tell us to pretend that nothing is wrong, nor does he dismiss the reality of what weighs on us. Instead, he directs us toward the place where anxious hearts are steadied—prayer. “In every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

This is the invitation of God: bring everything to Him. Not just the big burdens, but the private worries, the unspoken fears, and the concerns that linger beneath the surface. Prayer is not simply a religious habit; it is the exchange point where we hand our cares to God and receive His peace in return.

Thanksgiving also plays an important role in this passage. Gratitude shifts the focus of the heart. It reminds us that the same God who has carried us before is still faithful now. When thanksgiving and prayer come together, they begin to quiet the noise of fear and re-center the soul in the faithfulness of God.

If your heart feels unsettled today, do not let anxiety sit unchallenged. Bring it before the Lord. He is not overwhelmed by what troubles you, and His peace is able to guard what worry tries to disturb. The heart that is surrendered in prayer can be held steady by the peace of God.

Prayer: Father, thank You that I do not have to carry my burdens alone. Teach me to respond to worry with prayer and to remember Your faithfulness with thanksgiving. Fill my heart with Your peace and guard my mind in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
