PURSUING A GREATER FUTURE
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
Life often brings us to moments where we reflect on the past—some memories are joyful, while others carry the weight of disappointment and unavoidable challenges. Yet God never designed our lives to be imprisoned by what has already happened. The past may explain your story, but it does not determine your destiny.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” — Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
Through the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord spoke to His people during a difficult season of exile. Their present situation was discouraging, and their future looked uncertain. Yet God declared that His plans for them were still good—plans of peace, purpose, and hope.
This promise reminds us that God is not limited by our past. Whether your past was glorious or painful, the Lord remains faithful to His purposes. He is continually working behind the scenes, shaping circumstances and preparing a future that reflects His goodness.
The key for every believer is persistence in following Him. Those who refuse to quit walking with God will eventually see His promises unfold. When you remain steadfast in faith, your story does not end in struggle—it ends in fulfillment.
Today, do not allow past victories to make you complacent or past failures to make you discouraged. God’s plan for your life is still unfolding. Continue to pursue Him with confidence, knowing that He is already working out a greater future for you.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the assurance that Your plans for my life are good. Help me release the weight of the past and pursue the future You have prepared. Strengthen my faith so that I never grow weary in following You. Let Your glorious purpose be fulfilled in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
