FAITHFULLY AND PATIENTLY WAITING
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
Waiting is one of the most difficult parts of the Christian life. We often want God to move quickly, answer clearly, and open doors without delay. But some of God’s deepest work in our lives happens not in the breakthrough, but in the waiting.
Now see what the Scripture has to say:
“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:4 (KJV)
James reminds us that patience is not passive. It is not simply sitting still until something changes. Biblical patience is an active, steadfast trust in God while time stretches longer than we expected. It is the quiet confidence that God is still working, even when we cannot yet see the evidence of it.
In seasons of waiting, God often develops what cannot be formed in hurried moments. He strengthens our faith, deepens our dependence, and refines our character. The delay is not always denial; sometimes it is divine preparation. What feels slow to us is often God’s careful work of making us ready for what He has already ordained.
Waiting can test the heart, but it also reveals where our trust truly rests. If we are not careful, impatience can lead us to force what God has not yet released. But when we remain faithful in the waiting, we learn to rest in His timing and trust that His plan is wiser than our urgency.
If you are in a season of waiting today, do not lose heart. God has not forgotten you. He is working in ways you cannot yet measure, and in His perfect time, what He has purposed will come to pass.
Prayer: Father, help me to remain faithful in seasons of waiting. When I grow impatient or discouraged, strengthen my heart to trust Your timing. Teach me to let patience do its work in me, and help me to rest in the confidence that You are always working for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
