CHOOSING GOOD AND REJECTING EVIL

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

The bible speaking concerning Jesus Christ in Isaiah 7:15 says: “Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.”

God never expects maturity where nourishment is lacking. Before the child in Isaiah could discern between good and evil, God ensured he was fed with butter and honey—symbols of divine provision, strength, and sweetness. This reveals a powerful truth: discernment grows out of nourishment.

Many struggle to reject evil not because they lack desire, but because they lack depth. When your life is consistently nourished by God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship, clarity is produced. Strength rises within, and your heart becomes trained to choose what pleases God. You must intentionally please God and reject everything call evil.

Therefore note this, God is intentional about your growth. He feeds you before He tests you, strengthens you before He assigns you, and nurtures you before He demands discernment. Stay in His presence, feast daily on His Word, and you will find yourself naturally refusing evil and choosing good.

Prayer: Father, nourish my spirit with Your truth and grace. Train my heart to refuse evil and to always choose what is good, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
