DON’T LABOR IN VAIN
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
The true joy of every laborer is to find rest at the end of all their efforts. The very reason we labor day and night—whether in career, business, ministry, or family—is because we are longing for rest and fulfillment. But beloved, real rest in this world is not in human power. No amount of possessions, connections, or achievements can guarantee it.
God alone is the giver of rest.
Jesus Himself declared: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 KJV). The rest your soul desires is not found in striving, but in surrendering to Christ. Hebrews 4:9 assures us that: “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”
When you come to Jesus, He turns your laboring days into favor-filled days. He replaces struggle with grace, emptiness with purpose, and exhaustion with divine refreshing. That is the rest that only God can give.
But this rest does not end here on earth. There is also an eternal rest promised to those who belong to Him. This heavenly rest can only be accessed if you are born again. To labor all your life, only to die without Christ, is to have labored absolutely in vain. Eternal rest is the crowning glory of every believer.
Therefore, make the most important decision of your life today. Choose Jesus, the Lord of rest.
Prayer: Father, please give me access to Your rest. Deliver me from every yoke of fruitless labor, and let my days on earth be filled with Your favor, peace, and grace. Prepare me also for eternal rest with You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
