DISCIPLINE: THE MARK OF A TRUE CHILD OF GOD
By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi
The church is like a hospital where people are treated and prepared for their heavenly citizenship. Just as a hospital has both the sick and the recovering, the church has both the holy and the unruly. Yet, God is interested in them all.
Discipline is what sets a true child apart. A genuine child of God is marked by adherence to the Lord’s commandments and instructions. Discipline is essential for operating in kingdom values.
As Proverbs 3:11-12 says, “My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”
God corrects us to refine us and make us more like Christ and prepare us for greater works. This is what equips us to represent God on earth effectively. Rejecting discipline makes us ineffective and we become unusable for God’s purposes. With indiscipline, you are nothing but worldly and unrepentant.
Prayer: Father, I’m ready for Your guidance and corrections. Deliver me from every hold of indiscipline and set me apart for Your glorious use in Jesus’ name. Amen.
