AVOID UNRELIABLE FRIENDS

By Pastor Ayo-Simeon Agbelusi

Nurturing a healthy relationship requires conscious effort and intentionality. For two people to work productively together, they must be on the same page and agree on mutual terms. The Bible warns us about the dangers of ‘evil communications’ and the company we keep, as bad influences can lead us down a path of destruction. Surround yourself with positive, uplifting relationships and prioritize open, honest communication to build strong, lasting bonds.

The Bible declares: One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

True friends take genuine interest in your highs and lows, celebrating your successes and supporting you through challenges. If a relationship consistently causes you pain and loss, it’s time to reevaluate. Steer clear of toxic individuals who use sarcasm for personal gain, offering no encouragement or support for your growth. You possess a unique and valuable life – surround yourself with people who complement and uplift you, rather than competing with or sabotaging God’s work in your life. May you be guided away from detrimental influences and toward nurturing relationships that foster growth, joy, and fulfillment.

Let’s pray together: Father, I ask that You connect my heart with people who truly matter and bring positivity into my life. Protect me from toxic relationships and evil influences that could lead me astray. Guide me in Your wisdom, and grant me discernment to recognize those who are genuinely invested in my well-being. Keep me safe from harm and lead me on the path of righteousness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
